Don’t we all wish that money grew on trees? But did you know that money can come FROM trees? If one thing is as certain as taxes, it’s that vegetation will always be growing and if not controlled, can be damaging to infrastructure, become fire hazards, or simply hinder a healthy growth of our forests. So, why not consider diversifying your business to include a vegetation management segment? All of sudden money DOES come from trees!
EFFECTIVE VEGETATION MANAGEMENT
There is definitely a growing market of opportunities in vegetation management. Utilities companies all have vegetation management budgets, state and federal entities also do. The private sector has massive budgets allocated to vegetation control in the oil and gas industry, land reclamation, and real estate development. Mechanical land clearing is a much greater environmentally sound alternative to traditional pile and burn methods, and is more cost effective. The key to successful entry is having the right equipment to be able to do a wide variety of projects from smaller day jobs all the way to 100+ acre projects.
THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB
Lamtrac’s LTR 8300T was designed to do a wide variety of work in practically any condition. The 300 hp category mulcher, weighing less than 28,000 lbs, is powerful enough to handle almost any type of vegetation at a highly productive rate; it’s also small enough to operate in limited space locations or projects with tight clearing instructions.
The operator cab is ergonomically designed with all controls integrated into the suspension seat for extremely easy and intuitive control, and safe comfortable operation at all times. There is excellent visibility to the attachment and all around the machine due to the panoramic view Lexan glass and the standard equipment rear view camera. The cab is ROPS, FOPS, OPS certified to ensure the operator is safe, and has three exits in case of emergency. The 30-inch track pads give the machine 2.9 psi ground pressure, which is amongst the best in the industry for a machine in the 300 hp category, but what is rarely found in a vehicle this size is the pivoting track feature, which makes for a much smoother and stable ride, especially in difficult terrain. Lamtrac’s engineering has really outdone itself with attention to details by including electric hydraulic oil fill pump, courtesy lights in the engine compartment, and easy access to all components for shift maintenance.
The machine is powered by a reliable Cummins QSC 8.3 rated at 290 hp at 2,000 rpm, pushing Bosch Rexroth hydraulic components that are controlled by Sauer Danfoss Plus+1 software system. This quality hydraulic package is designed for extremely high performance generating 100 gpm at 5,000 psi—maximizing such horsepower to the mulching head results directly in superior productivity and consequently, profitability.
A weakness for many industry mulching tractors is keeping such a powerful package running cool. To ensure performance in ambient temperatures up to 125 degrees Fahrenheit, a superior duty, three-section radiator was utilized in the design of the Lamtrac LTR 8300T to ensure operation at comfortable levels. Since mulching tractors can generate a great amount of dust and debris that can affect the radiator performance, sensors continuously monitor cooling performance and are visible to the operator so that reversing fan cycles can be programmed or even manually activated when needed.
Finally, to be able to monitor closely this remarkable machine, Lamtrac has introduced the Lamtronics system, a highly user-friendly self diagnostics system that gives instant visibility to electronics and hydraulics circuits, all operating pressures and temperatures, and highly modifiable settings to adapt to user preferences and working conditions.
Take the time to investigate this innovative piece of equipment, you could find a whole new customer base for your business with it.
As always, Lamtrac is … moving you forward. ■
