truck-mounted aerial work platform is one of the safest and most productive methods to access worksites at heights. It allows professionals to complete jobs on a stable, maneuverable platform. The role of aerial work platforms in profitable contracting cannot be underestimated.

Bronto Skylift aerial work platforms are used for everything from window cleaning and installation, building and bridge inspection to repair work. Safe working at heights is important to Bronto Skylifts’s customers and has guided its product development for decades.

“Safety is not just about fulfilling the standards, it’s about creating a safe working environment where you can focus on reaching the job at hand,” says Steve Starling, sales manager at Bronto Skylift.

EFFICIENT INSTALLATIONS
Extremely challenging high-rise installations like antennas, generators, or windmills demand the highest truck-mounted aerial platforms for maximum outreach.

“Back in the 1990s, Bronto Skylift offered a 236-foot unit. At that time, my thought was, can anyone go any higher than that with a 1,000-pound platform capacity and 28 mph wind speed capability? Today, Bronto Skylift manufactures units up to 367 feet with the same capabilities; I don’t even ask if we can go higher anymore,” Starling shares.

“With wind generation blade work, the customers have often said that they can repair blades five times faster with a Bronto than with any another method. Utility line supervisors have even reported that changing older methods to a Bronto shortened the job time from 6 months to 6 weeks when reinsulating a line corridor,” Starling says.

RELIABILITY MEANS HIGH UPTIME
Only a reliable platform can perform its duty successfully.

“I’ve seen large projects where the general contractor will bring in Bronto Skylift aerial platforms that start with the ironworks and finish up with the painters. There’s no time for repair breaks; the equipment has to be up and running 24/7,” Starling says.

Starling continues, “When we completed customer satisfaction interviews, the results showed that Brontos are known and appreciated for their high reliability. Our customers don’t want any surprises interrupting operation when they are up in the air.”

Bronto Skylift also provides services that keep equipment reliable and running smoothly.

“Our fast and reliable spare parts service keeps customers equipped with all necessary components throughout the equipment’s lifecycle. We have supplied even 25-year-old Brontos with spare parts and we promise to deliver them for at least the next 25 years. Our service offering also includes remote product and operator support, service visits and inspections, modernizations, and repairs,” comments Starling.

PRECISION OUTREACH
The Bronto platform can be telescoped precisely next to a work piece carrying the required personnel and equipment. A state-of-the-art control system provides smooth, safe, and accurate movements even in the most severe operating conditions.

“You can focus on managing the boom movements and let the system take care of the rest. Control panels with touch screens are resistive, so you can easily use it with gloves on,” Starling explains.

INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS
For many decades the engineering team at Bronto Skylift designed specific solutions for electric utility transmission access, wind power generation access, and construction access, as well as for fire and rescue.

Cage winches and material handling devices are the most typical industry-specific solutions. An easy-to-operate 881-pound winch can replace the need for a separate crane when lifting components to the turbine or blades.

One interesting use of Bronto aerial work platforms has been for demanding broadcasting purposes, such as capturing the best live TV footage of Formula 1 competitions, golf tournaments, and other crowded events. The unique rotating and round camera cage was developed in cooperation with broadcasting professionals.

MEETING CONTRACTOR NEEDS
“With Bronto Skylift’s distributors across North America, sales, service, and rental units are readily available for today’s contractor, providing safe, reliable, and productive solutions for the completion of your project,” Starling concludes.
