SOUNDWALL INSTALLATION: 36” SHORT AUGER
A REV Drill Model 30 mounted on a Doosan 235 with a 36-inch Auger was used to drill 725 holes to install a soundwall just outside of Baltimore, Maryland. The contractor brought his drilling in-house and was able to complete 12-15 holes per day, reaching the 20 ft to 30 ft depths needed.
LIGHT POLE FOUNDATION: 48” SHORT AUGER
REV Drill Model 24HD with a 48-inch rock auger operated in between two bridge spans, in order to install a 48 inch OD x 20 ft deep shaft for a light pole foundation.
LANDSLIDE REMEDIATION: 30’ TIEBACKS
A REV Drill Model 30HD, custom-mounted on the stick of a Doosan 350 was utilized for a difficult access, emergency job. The landslide remediation required the installation of 4½ inch OD x 30 ft deep tiebacks along a remote Pennsylvania roadway. A top-mounted air swivel was utilized along with 3½ inch drill rod and a 4½ inch OD Tri-cone bit. By using the 30 ft stroke REV Drill, the holes could be drilled in a single pass. All of the required points of entry were reached for the tiebacks to stabilize the landslide and make the roadway safe for passage.
BRIDGE FOUNDATION: 30” DOWN HOLE HAMMER
Two REV Drills were utilized for a challenging bridge foundation through solid rock, in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. REV Drill Model 36HD was mounted on a Doosan 350 excavator which offered excellent stability and power, and was outfitted with 18-inch Down Hole Hammer tooling and a 30-inch bit. Utilizing a 2,000 cfm air compressor, the 24 shafts were successfully drilled to 30 ft in depth and completed on schedule.
CUSTOM SHORING: 30’ TIEBACKS
With the help of REV Drill’s rental drilling equipment and on-site expertise, tie backs were installed through newly constructed underpinning pits for the construction of a condo unit, located in northwest Washington, D.C. REV Drill provided a Model 30HD drill mounted on a 20 ton excavator with 3½ inch OD drill rod and a 6-inch Tri-cone bit. The drill was equipped with a rotary motor with 14,000 ft/ lbs of torque, a 14,000 lb crowd/retract winch, and a 360-degree drill mount. In 3 days, 14 tiebacks, 6 inch OD x 30 ft deep were installed bringing the shoring job to completion.
AUGER CAST PILES: 24” CONTINUOUS FLIGHT AUGER
In Houston, Texas, a REV Drill Model 62HDT was used to install auger cast piles 24 inch OD x 55 ft deep. The REV Drill was equipped with a hydraulic tilt mount, a 27,000 ft/lb rotary motor, and 20,000 lb line pull winch. Consistent in reaching their targeted depth of 55 ft in only 16 minutes, then pumping grout as the tooling is extracted to complete the pile installation
BRIDGE ABUTMENT: DUPLEX DRILLING ANCHORS
REV Drill Model 18HDTC, mounted on a rubber tire excavator, to tackle a difficult repair job to a Northern Virginia bridge abutment where the vertical concrete wall tiles were failing. REV Drill outfitted the drill with a duplex swivel and clamps and breakers to install 7-inch casing pipe with a down hole hammer in 5 ft sections at an elevation of 16 ft above grade. Clamp and breakers were utilized to have the capability to add short sections of drill rod and casing pipe to reach a distance of 100 ft horizontally, entering one side of the abutment and exiting through the other side. Once the casing pipe was installed, threaded tie rods with anchor plates and bolts were installed to secure the tiles.
SOLAR INSTALLATION: VIBRO
A REV Drill Model 17HDT was used to install 800 piles for a solar installation in Long Island, New York. A variety of pile types were driven, including W6X9, W8X10, 5 9/16 inch pipe pile and custom channel posts, all to a depth of 12 ft utilizing an APE Model 2 vibratory hammer, attached to the REV Drill mast. The unit was equipped with a hydraulic tilt mount for quick, accurate leveling from inside the cab. ■
